Motherhood minus the medals navigates the landscape of what it means to be a mother in the 21st century, in a role you can't prepare for, which can at once feel like the most valuable and least valued thing you'll ever do.
Nelly Bryce vents her frustrations, celebrates the magic, and embraces you along the way in this thoughtful, questioning and comforting collection of poems.
Must have! Such an amazing collection of poems.
I love this book. I have it on my desk and every so often pick it up and indulge in one of the poems
at random.
Every poem is like a reassuring hug with a friend. It helps you to feel less alone on the journey
through motherhood, whilst being about to laugh, cry and appreciate your own journey. You need it!
Helen spent a day with my team using journaling prompts to help us work collectively in a new way; equip us to prioritise our wellbeing and explore our connectivity in such a refreshing way.
The impact is still felt and freedom to use a pen to prioritise and also ensure we're thriving personally and professionally stuck.

A bespoke poem bringing to life the experiences of customers using Baba and Boo nappies.
Used on social media channels, Facebook groups and via the newsletter, this poem was highly viewed and engaged with.
One customer even requested a printed copy to display as a print.
Nelly’s work leading journaling groups has had a significant impact on my life - as a writer, as a Mum and as a human being.
I’ve spent the past 20 years working in a creative industry as a TV and digital content creator so writing is part of my professional life, but my childhood love of creative writing had long been boxed up and stored away. In January 2022 I joined a short course Helen was running, teaching a group of women about journaling as a tool for reflection, organisation and creativity. Using poetry, art and carefully considered prompts and themes, she taught tools and held a space which became nothing short of life-changing for me.

Over an 18-month period I worked with My First Five Years to provide creative copy and content.
I created this poem which was used to bring to life the core philosophy of the brand and connect with their customers.
This got me thinking. Perhaps this sounds radical, but how much feminism do we teach in schools? How much support and guidance is given to teachers on managing unconscious bias and teaching gender equality?
Just wanted to say a huge thank you for your speaking at March of the Mummies on Saturday.
The feedback has been really positive … everyone was empowered by the impassioned words – thank you!
The coverage and engagement has been fantastic and hopefully it is the first step in making some impactful change. We look forward to working together again in the not too distant future.

I approached Nelly to run several workshops for our customers.
Nelly was professional and creative, flexible and attentive to the women who had come from different backgrounds. The discoveries made during these sessions were staggering. She has actually helped us turn our fears into a form of art. Helping people to unpick their anxieties on the page.
She’s one of the most brilliant people I know!

softly words are cried
sparkling strength worn with pride
Christmas lights upstaged
by a bride
and her groom
not gathering on the stone steps
gentle is the moment
gentle is the moment
started from the seed
showered in rain like confetti
and kept warm by distant kin
shutter clicks to capture
where forever walks
in a secret garden together dreams
are quietly being grown
